Job Description

CIT Coordinator/Local Marcus Alert Coordinator Join the HCS Crisis Team and work collaboratively with Community Services Boards (CSBs) and related stakeholders to plan, organize, and maintain Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) and local Mental Health Awareness and Community Understanding Services Alert System (MARCUS Alert System) programing. CIT is a community-based partnership, designed to improve emergency responses to people experiencing mental health or addiction crises. CIT programs, which include trained officers, mental health professionals, and advocates, aim to reduce arrests, enhance safety, and connect individuals to treatment rather than jail. The Marcus-David Peters Act aims to provide a behavioral health response to behavioral health emergencies. The Act also intends to reduce adverse outcomes involving the "use of force" in law enforcement interactions when experiencing a behavioral health crisis related to mental health, substance use, or developmental disability. This position entails serving as the chair for the CIT and MARCUS Alert Advisory Committee with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate community involvement relating to programming operations and sustainability. This position will manage the logistics and coordination of program training which includes educational opportunities for both first responders and behavioral health providers. This position will assist with efforts to educate the community about the goals, initiatives and purposes of the CIT and MARCUS Alert programming and requires public speaking on state and national platforms at conferences and events.
