The Policy and Programs Director reports to the President, and works in close coordination with a team environment to facilitate the achievement of ICC's goals and objectives. The Policy and Programs Director's work involves professional coordination with suppliers, investors, prospects, VIPs and those who inquire about the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, flexible, presents a warm and engaging image, curious and optimistic, and is comfortable working in diverse environments ranging from independent work to team environments. The candidate selected will be subject to background and reference checks, to ensure they can be relied upon to operate in a highly trustworthy manner. PROGRAMS
- Identify and advance key initiatives The Policy and Programs Director is responsible for the organizational cycle of activities, beginning with strategizing work plans and concluding with issuance of reports.
Duties:
Develop, implement, and continuously refine program strategies that advance the organization's mission and priorities. Evaluate existing programs for effectiveness, relevance, and impact. Identify opportunities to create new initiatives that respond to emerging business community needs. Conduct research on economic and industry trends relevant to the business community. Prepare briefing materials, talking points, reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and distribute timely reports. Support coalition and special project activities by securing and building participants, seeking input/approvals, and distributing approved materials. Draft, proof and distribute official correspondence and maintain appropriate program working files. Administer and summarize polls and input tools to guide organizational policies and priorities. Maintain contact lists (name, position, address, phone, email) for VIPs, allies and influentials pertaining to ICC priorities. Routinely scan for strategic opportunities to build relationships and partnerships. Represent the organization at community meetings, business activities, and regional events. Distribute information as required.
RESOURCES
- Strengthen organizational capacity The Policy and Programs Director strengthens organizational capacity by coordinating engagement with new investors and assuring quality stewardship with existing investors.
Duties:
Contribute content for newsletters, websites and reports. Provide timely investor services for incoming requests. Identify opportunities to highlight investors and partners through programming. Support the timely invoicing and receivables cycle. Maintain an active contact list of prospects and next steps. Support the pursuit of investors by providing input, preparing meetings and following up. Explore and prepare proposals for special project funding. Create investor receptions or celebrations as appropriate. Distribute information as required.
ADMINISTRATION
- Operate effectively and efficiently. The Policy and Programs Director is a key person in assuring that the organization operates effectively and efficiently.
Duties:
Lead planning and calibration team meetings. Create and maintain an annual work plan of organizational activities. Oversee program timelines, budgets, deliverables and performance metrics. Maintain ICC's physical, community and online presence in a professional manner, providing input and recommendations for improvements. Maintain office resources, including supplies, working files and archives. Maintain equipment and software, identify upgrades as needed. Map and record procedures, and keep an active file for cross-training. Record attendance and key developments at Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings, and prepare draft notes and reports. Maintain accurate records, documentation and compliance standards. Accurately record receipts and expenses, prepare checks for payment, and support preparation of timely state and federal filings. Support governance requirements, such as supporting the needs of officers (e.g. reports, correspondence), supporting accounting and financial resources, and pursuing meetings with candidates/selection committees. Run errands, such as making deposits, obtaining office supplies, processing mail and managing print jobs. Assist President and team with other tasks as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Policy and Programs Director thrives on successful execution of the organization's activities, and will benefit from the following knowledge, skills and abilities: College degree in a related field or experience equivalent. A composed disposition anchored by integrity, discretion and respect. Excellent written, grammatical and verbal skills. Strong sense of organizational, efficiency, excellence and attention to detail. Project management skills. Strong ability to identify and self-manage tasks. Comfort with telephone, computer, copier and other related office resources. Experience with Microsoft Offices, QuickBooks, basic design software. Comfort with accounting and finance. Ability to lift 50 pounds (e.g. files, boxes, displays). Valid Washington state driver's license.
