Job Description

The Village of Lincolnwood is seeking an Associate Planner to assist with permit approvals and support projects reviewed by the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois, is a diverse, welcoming home-rule community located directly north of Chicago. Covering 2.7 square miles, Lincolnwood features a unique blend of residential neighborhoods, commercial corridors, and industrial districts. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Development, the Associate Planner supports the Village's planning and zoning functions through application review, research, and preparation of materials for the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Associate Planner provides exemplary customer service by delivering clear, timely, and professional support to residents, applicants, and staff throughout the development review process. Key Responsibilities Assists with the review of variation and permit applications for compliance with Village codes, ordinances, and adopted plans. Assists with providing applicants with technical assistance through the zoning entitlement and development review process from pre-application meetings through final approvals. Assists with staff reports, recommendations, meeting agendas, minutes, correspondence, and supporting documentation for the Village Board, Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals, and other boards and commissions as assigned. Provides support for counter inquiries and phone calls related to general Community Development matters, including zoning inquiries. Conducts research and analysis related to planning, zoning, land use, demographics, housing, redevelopment, transportation, and economic development topics. Maintains accurate planning records, files, maps, databases, and reports in accordance with Village policies and procedures. Assists with data entry, management, and clean-up tasks for the upcoming ERP software implementation. Prepares graphics, maps, presentations, and public information materials utilizing GIS, graphic design, and related software tools. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience A bachelor's degree in urban planning, Geography, public administration or a similar field is required. Experience with GIS, graphic design tools, and Microsoft Office preferred. Hours and Compensation The hourly rate is $33.99 - $44.95 DOQ. This position is classified as part-time, non-exempt position. The position generally works Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with hours varying as needed, for a total of 25 hours per week. The position may occasionally be required to work evening or weekend hours. This position is eligible for participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), and holiday pay.
