As an Entry-Level Planner/Urban Designer/Architect, you will be instrumental in supporting our downtown revitalization and community planning projects across the United States by delivering land use, zoning, and real estate development solutions for private and public sector clients. You will work closely with senior staff to develop and execute outstanding plans that respect historical context while incorporating innovative solutions. A strong emphasis will be placed on 3D modeling, enabling you to illustrate and communicate complex design concepts effectively. Applicants based in or near Salt Lake City/Park City are encouraged to apply. This can be a fully remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior planners on research, data collection, and analysis for detailed downtown planning projects and site activation plans. Support public engagement efforts by assisting in the preparation of meeting materials and attending public hearings or community workshops. Author high-quality technical reports and compelling visual presentations for client meetings. Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and maps using GIS and other relevant software. Develop 3D models and visualizations using SketchUp, CAD, and other software for client presentations. Research municipal codes, zoning bylaws, and environmental regulations to assess development potential for client properties. Conduct site analyses and contribute to project assessments, ensuring compliance with preservation guidelines and zoning regulations. Assist with designing and planning preservation projects, including research and documentation of historical sites. Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders. Support project management tasks, including coordinating with consultants, preparing reports, and tracking project progress. Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather information relevant to planning applications and projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Architecture, Real Estate Development, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience, including internships. Proficiency in ArcGIS. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. A keen eye for detail and a passion for innovative design solutions. Strong time-management skills to balance multiple client billable hours, tight deadlines, and shifting project scopes. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for reports, presentations, and public interaction. Fundamental understanding of community planning principles. A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for site visits.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Urban/City Planning or a related field such as Public Policy, Architecture, or Real Estate Development. Working knowledge of preservation principles and historic architecture. Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SketchUp or similar. Working knowledge of the Main Street program and four-point approach to revitalization. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva for graphic design and document production.

Benefits:
$55,000 - $65,000 annually depending on experience. 7 paid holidays annually. Health/Dental insurance (and/or monthly stipend). Health Savings Account options with company contributions.
