TITLE:

Elementary/Middle School Counselor

QUALIFICATIONS

A valid Alabama teachers certificate in the area of instructional responsibility.

REPORTS TO

Principal

JOB GOAL

To provide a comprehensive counseling and guidance program for elementary/middle school students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Refer to Hale County's Counseling and Guidance Plan. 2. Implement the elementary school counseling and guidance program curriculum. 3. Guide and counsel groups and individual students through the development of personal, social, educational and career plans. 4. Counsel small groups and individual students. 5. Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students. 6. Refer students with problems and their parents to appropriate specialists, special programs, or outside agencies. 7. Participate in activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school. 8. Plan, evaluate and revise the counseling and guidance program. 9. Utilize technology and district software applications for the purpose of instructional and administrative tasks. 10. Pursue professional growth. 11. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Professional Education Personnel Evaluation.
