QUALIFICATIONS
Current Arizona State Guidance Counselor certification. Degree required in relevant field of study. Prior relevant work experience. Ability to obtain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement the district adopted Comprehensive Competency Based Guidance Curriculum (CCBG). Provide classroom and small group developmental activities. (e.g., self-esteem, problem-solving, decision making) Coordinate and facilitate the Child Study Team and the Multi Disciplinary Conference Team (MDC). Facilitate the introduction of students to the school community. Help students evaluate career interests and choices. Provide counseling for children on an individual basis to remediate behavioral, academic, and personal student concerns. Help to maintain student records and protect their confidentiality. Promote parents' understanding of academic progress, behavior, growth, and development issues. Help resolve student-teacher conflicts. Provide in-service training as needed. Consult about class interaction, student needs, and staff relationships. Aid in the interpretation of test results to students, parents and teachers. Take an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents and the community at large. Work closely with the school nurse in reporting cases of suspected child abuse. Facilitate special interest programs as needed, such as parenting groups and/or support groups. Other duties as may be assigned by the site administrator and/or the Director of Exceptional Student Services.
