The ideal candidate will have a strong background in counseling, child development, and behavioral health, with the ability to foster a positive and inclusive environment. This role involves providing individual and group counseling, academic advising, and collaborating with staff, parents, and community resources to promote student success. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and experience working with children and diverse student populations. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on academic achievement, behavioral health, mental health, and personal development. Assist students in developing effective conflict management and behavior management strategies. Coordinate with ESE personnel referrals for service. Conduct assessments related to childhood development, social work needs, and behavioral health to support student well-being. Support students with standardized testing preparation and college or career planning. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop tailored interventions that address student needs. Maintain confidentiality while adhering to child protective services guidelines and child welfare policies. Provide student discipline. Participate in crisis intervention when necessary and coordinate with external agencies for additional support services. Promote a safe school environment by implementing classroom experience strategies that foster positive behavior. Document counseling activities accurately in compliance with school policies and legal requirements. Experience Master's Degree or higher with certification in Guidance and Counseling. A minimum of three years successful teaching experience preferred. Prior experience working with children or students in educational or social work settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in special education, behavioral health, mental health counseling, or social work is advantageous. Proven skills in conflict management, behavior management, and childhood development are essential. Experience conducting individual or group counseling sessions within school environments is desirable. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and child protective services protocols is beneficial. Strong communication skills coupled with cultural sensitivity to effectively engage diverse student populations are required.
