Job Description
Xavier Catholic Schools is hiring a Learning Strategist for Xavier Middle School's LaSalle Campus! This part-time teaching position for the 2026-2027 school year!
JOB SUMMARY
The Learning Strategist plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support services to students, addressing their academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs. This position collaborates closely with educators, administrators, and families to create a supportive and inclusive school environment that fosters student success and well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate degree in education
Experience working with students in an educational or youth-serving setting, with a focus on academic support and/or behavior intervention
Knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning theories, and evidence-based practices in student support services
Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural competence to effectively engage with diverse students, families, and community members
Ability to collaborate with school personnel, communicate effectively, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of students
Commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice in education, and advocating for the needs of all students
Practicing Catholic preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic Support
Provide individualized academic assistance and tutoring to students who require additional support in core subject areas, including reading, math, and writing
Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students' learning needs, develop personalized learning plans, and implement targeted interventions to improve academic performance
Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and adjust support strategies as needed to ensure academic growth and success
Social and Emotional Support
Provide a safe and supportive space for expressing concerns and seeking assistance
Facilitate social skills development activities, conflict resolution, and peer support groups to promote positive peer relationships and emotional resilience among students
Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and community agencies to provide referrals and access to mental health services for students in need of additional support
Behavioral Intervention and Management
Implement behavior management strategies and positive behavior support plans to address disruptive behaviors, promote self-regulation, and reinforce appropriate conduct in the school setting
Conduct functional behavior assessments, develop behavior intervention plans, and monitor behavior progress for students with challenging behaviors, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness of interventions
Provide crisis de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution strategies, and behavior modification techniques to support students in managing emotions and making positive choices
Attendance and Truancy Prevention
Monitor student attendance and identify patterns of absenteeism or truancy, intervening early to address underlying issues and barriers to regular school attendance
Collaborate with parents, guardians, and community resources to develop attendance improvement plans, provide support services, and connect families with resources to address attendance-related challenges
Implement attendance incentives, recognition programs, and positive reinforcement strategies to promote regular school attendance and reduce dropout rates
Family and Community Engagement
Build positive relationships with students' families, serving as a liaison between home and school to foster collaboration, communication, and parental involvement in student support initiatives

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
