This contract role offers the opportunity to provide critical in-person support within a high school setting, working collaboratively with staff, students, and families. Immediate openings are available for two dedicated school counselors for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Key Qualifications:
Valid school counseling certification, licensure, or eligibility for certification in Michigan Previous experience providing counseling services to high school students (grades 9-12) is highly valued Strong understanding of Section 504 Plan compliance and monitoring Excellent organizational and communication skills—both written and verbal Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families Comfortable managing sensitive situations and a variety of student needs Proficient in conducting parent meetings through multiple formats (email, phone, in-person)
Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor and support student progress, academic achievement, and overall well-being Oversee and ensure compliance for students' Section 504 Plans Maintain thorough communication with parents through conferences, emails, and calls Collaborate with teaching staff and fellow counselors on student plans and interventions Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a positive school culture Track student caseload data and maintain confidential records Additional duties as assigned by school leadership This full-time, in-person position runs Monday through Friday, with a daily schedule from 7:15am to 2:15pm.
