Fowler, MI 48835 POSITION Fowler Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered K-12 School District Counselor to provide comprehensive personal, academic, and career guidance across the district, serving students at both Waldron Elementary/Middle School and Fowler High School.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and maintains a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program. Communicates the goals of the school counseling program to administrators, teachers, students, parents and the community. Use data to develop programs that meet student needs. Provide individual counseling and small groups as needed. Teach lessons to raise student awareness, second step social emotional learning, the dangers of substance abuse, and improve coping strategies to prevent problems before they start on specific topics of concern to the school community, such as bullying, teamwork, conflict resolution and diversity. Provide input as an active participant in student support teams to assist students with academic or behavioral challenges. Monitor academic progress and collaborate with staff and families to implement interventions, MTSS supports, Personal Curriculum plans, and other student success strategies. Participate in IEP and 504 meetings/plans. Assist in providing coverage for other student support team members as coordinated by the principal. Serve as the district assessment coordinator for state, district, and national assessments. Order, schedule, bundle and return all MSTEP, PSAT, SAT and other standardized tests. Guide students in educational planning including course selection, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning. Coordinate student scheduling, orientation, and school transitions. Schedule and coordinate credit recovery courses Coordinate the Enhanced Dual Enrollment Program with Lansing Community College at Fowler High School Respond to crisis situations when appropriate. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the completion of a Masters' degree (MA) from a four-year college or university in School Counseling. Prior teaching experience and previous school counseling experience is preferred but not required.
COMPENSATION
According to the negotiated Master Agreement
