Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Counselor for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade to join our vibrant educational community. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive guidance and support to students, fostering their academic success, emotional well-being, and social development. Responsibilities Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focused on academic advising, behavioral health, social skills, and emotional resilience. Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, parents, and external professionals such as social workers and child protective services to develop tailored support plans for students. Manage behavioral guidance strategies and conflict management interventions to promote positive classroom environments. Assist students with childhood development challenges, adolescent development issues, and mental health counseling needs. Ensure compliance with educational regulations and school policies related to student welfare, confidentiality, and safety procedures. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to identify student needs and track progress over time. Provide guidance on school policy matters related to guidance counseling, special education, and cultural diversity counseling. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid school counselor certification/license applicable in the relevant jurisdiction. Proven experience working with children in educational or social service settings; experience with K-8 students highly valued. Strong knowledge of childhood development, adolescent growth stages, and behavioral health principles. Familiarity with educational compliance standards, school legal knowledge, and regulations governing student privacy and safety. Excellent communication skills for parent communication, team collaboration, and student engagement. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion while maintaining professionalism at all times. Skills in conflict management, behavior management techniques, and social work practices are essential.
