Months Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is looking for a dynamic individual to work with students enrolled at SUNY Morrisville through the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). EOP provides access and services for students who have been historically disadvantaged. The EOP Counselor will advise EOP students on college transition, which include academic success, fiscal responsibility, and career choice. The EOP counselor will also develop and present workshops related to such issues. The counselor may also teach freshman experience or other similar skill building courses to EOP students. The EOP Counselor also participates in the development and execution of the EOP Pre-College Summer Institute, prepares reports, keeps accurate records as necessary, and aids in the assessment of the EOP program. The counselor will interact with the campus community and state on behalf of EOP students and the program, as well as participate in campus wide committees and activities. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Provide holistic academic, personal, financial, and career advising to a caseload of EOP students to promote persistence, retention, and graduation. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, orientations, and student success programming that supports academic achievement and personal development. Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and campus partners to monitor student progress and coordinate appropriate interventions. Assist with the planning, implementation, and assessment of the EOP Summer Academy, including curriculum support, student engagement activities, and logistics. Serve as a chaperone and mentor during Summer Academy activities, including evenings and weekends. Participate in student outreach, recruitment, admissions, orientation, and transition initiatives for prospective and incoming EOP students including nights and weekend events. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records, case notes, and reports using institutional databases and student success technologies. Monitor student academic performance and proactively connect students with campus resources and support services. Serve as the liaison to assigned campus offices to strengthen collaboration and improve student outcomes. Participate in EOP staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and required

training. Serve on EOP, divisional, and campus-wide committees and contribute to institutional initiatives that advance student success. Prepare reports and assist with data collection, assessment, and compliance activities to meet SUNY and institutional reporting requirements. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission of the Educational Opportunity Program.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience working with students or individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly those who have experienced educational, economic, or social barriers. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and organize programs, events, or workshops. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to maintain confidential student information and exercise sound professional judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other standard office technologies. Commitment to the mission and goals of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), including student access, retention, and success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Social Work, Education, or a related field. Experience working in an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), TRIO, HEOP, CSTEP, or similar student support program. Knowledge of academic advising, student development theory, and student success strategies. Experience providing academic coaching, case management, or holistic student support. Experience planning and facilitating workshops, orientations, and student engagement programming. Familiarity with student success technologies such as Starfish, Banner, Slate, or similar higher education systems. Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, and campus/community partners to support student persistence and graduation.
