1 About Manara Academy Manara Academy is a mission-driven public charter school network committed to academic excellence, diversity, and holistic student development. We are currently seeking a proactive and student-focused Academic Guidance Counselor to serve both our district. Academic Counselor - Job Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (required). Master's degree in School Counseling or related field (preferred). Valid Texas School Counselor Certification Background clearance through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or designated fingerprinting service. Minimum 3 years of Experience Preferred Experience working in a diverse, high-need, or Title I school environment (preferred). Familiarity with college and career readiness programs, graduation plans, and state academic requirements. Texas graduation requirements and academic pathways (Foundation Plan, Endorsements, HB5, etc.). Student assessment tools (STAAR, TELPAS, PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc.). Transcript audits, credit recovery options, and scheduling. Social-emotional development and support strategies. Special programs such as 504, SPED, ESL, and Gifted & Talented. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to use student data to support academic planning and intervention. Proficiency in education technology platforms (e.g., PowerSchool, TXeSPED, etc.). Experience with Dual Enrollment, CTE, CCMR, AP course and exam scheduling, College Board Requirements Experience with secondary readiness (FAFSA, college applications, scholarships) Counsel students on academic goals, career paths, and personal development. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success. Conduct student conferences and parent meetings regarding academic progress. Facilitate testing and interpretation of results for academic planning. Support implementation of SEL (social-emotional learning) and college readiness initiatives. Commitment to educational equity and high expectations for all students. Culturally responsive and student-centered. Flexible, team-oriented, and responsive to school needs.
