PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Academy Leader is responsible for implementing District instructional programs and

educational philosophy in accordance with district goals, policies, and procedures by supporting administrators and teachers in their efforts to prepare students for Academic Success.

All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals,

communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
Preferred:
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for secondary education

  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • High energy level
  • Flexible, patient and adapts easily to change
  • Experience with project based and problem-based learning
  • Experience working in small learning communities and professional learning
    communities
  • Strong desire to grow professionally through staff development
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Providing Staff Development

  • Implement effective instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Assist colleagues in developing their capacity to reflect upon practice, generate ideas and
    increase professional self-awareness.
  • Promote an understanding of the criteria for credits, and other criteria for academic and
    behavioral progress
  • Attends seminars, conferences, workshops and other professional meetings
  • Participates in appropriate professional development programs and activities
    Monitoring
  • Assist with coordination of the grade level community programs to include review and
    evaluation responsibilities to evaluate effectiveness and offer recommendations for
    revisions and/or improvements as required.
  • Assist with the presentation of professional development for school staff to promote
    cultural awareness
  • Monitor daily attendance progress for identified students.
  • Monitor the academic progress of identified students.
  • Monitor the academic progress of identified students following interventions based on
    assessment data.
  • Assisting with effective interventions - working with administrators and teachers with
    the planning and implementation of effective instructional & behavioral interventions.
    Support the instructional program for students
  • Create and facilitate instructional programs for low performing students
  • Utilized proven research-based instructional strategies
  • Adjust and differentiate instruction to provide additional opportunities for student success
  • Assist with the intervention program at the campus level.
  • Have a clear understanding of Behavioral Response to Intervention tiers to provide
    enrichment and remediation with restorative practices.
  • Organize and facilitate small group, one on one and after school for behavioral
    intervention sessions.
    Testing and Data Assistance
  • Assist administrators and teachers to use the data to identify students who need additional
    assistance.
  • Analyze and organize assessment data to adjust lesson plans while providing additional
    opportunities for students to receive additional instruction and assessment
  • Encourage and motivate students with low confidence through highly engaging and
    exploration of conflict resolution skill building
    Public Relations
  • Provide assistance to parents, teachers, and students with community related matters
  • Serve as a Community contact person for community activities
WORKING CONDITIONS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physicaldemands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, and maintain emotional control under stress.

This position has mental demands such as the ability to solve problems, interpret data, deliver effective oral and written communication, and handle a variety of situations.
