As a Job Coach, you'll work one-on-one with individuals to explore career interests, prepare for employment, learn job responsibilities, develop workplace skills, and build greater independence. Support may take place at More Maitri's thrift-store employment program and at community-based employment sites .
The goal is simple:
teach, coach, encourage, and empower—not do the job for the individual. As skills and confidence grow, you'll gradually reduce support and help each person become as independent as possible. What You'll Do Provide individualized, person-centered employment support based on each individual's interests, strengths, abilities, and goals. Help individuals explore career interests and identify employment opportunities in the community. Assist with applications, resumes, interview preparation, and other employment-readiness activities. Train and coach individuals on job duties, workplace procedures, safety, and employer expectations. Break tasks into manageable steps and use strategies such as modeling, prompting, repetition, visual supports, practice, and feedback. Help individuals develop workplace skills such as: Attendance and punctuality Communication and professionalism Time management Following directions Problem-solving Workplace relationships and appropriate behavior Safety and self-advocacy Provide encouragement, positive reinforcement, and constructive feedback. Observe progress, identify areas for additional support, and gradually fade assistance as independence develops. Support individuals in maintaining employment and navigating workplace challenges. Build positive, professional relationships with employers, supervisors, coworkers, and community businesses. Advocate for inclusion, reasonable accommodations, self-determination, dignity, and meaningful participation in the workplace. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress notes, and service records. Communicate important concerns, progress, safety issues, and employment-related updates with supervisors and support teams. Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and ongoing professional development. Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and a safe, respectful, inclusive environment.
What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Genuine interest in helping people with disabilities achieve meaningful employment and greater independence. Patient, dependable, adaptable, and professional approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with individuals who have different communication styles, learning needs, and support needs. Ability to adapt coaching and teaching strategies to individual needs. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good judgment in community-based settings. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic documentation systems. Reliable transportation and ability to travel between employment sites as needed. Ability to meet applicable background-check and provider requirements.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in supported employment, job coaching, intellectual and developmental disability services, vocational rehabilitation, direct support, human services, education, retail/customer service, or other related fields is helpful—but not required . New to supported employment? We encourage you to apply! Training Provided You do not need to already have ACRE, CPI, SOMB, or CPR/First Aid certification to apply. More Maitri will provide or coordinate required training, including supported employment and job-coaching practices, person-centered support, client rights and confidentiality, documentation, workplace accommodations, safety, professional boundaries, CPR/First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention, SOMB training, and other position-specific training. Schedule & Work Environment Schedules vary based on the needs and work schedules of individuals supported. Work may include weekday mornings, afternoons, or early evenings, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed. Travel between More Maitri's thrift-store program and community employment sites is required. Reliable transportation is required. A valid driver's license may be required if driving is part of assigned duties. Approved work-related travel between employment sites is eligible for mileage reimbursement in accordance with company policy. The position may involve standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and demonstrating job tasks depending on the employment setting. Why Join More Maitri?
