Job Description

FIELD COUNSELOR/MENTOR UPWARD BOUND
Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Field Counselor/Mentor for the TRIO Upward Bound Program. This will be a part time position during the school year.
Responsibilities:
Report to the Program Director Participate in ongoing training appropriate to fulfilling Upward Bound goals Provide tutoring and mentoring services to Upward Bound students Develop a positive working relationship between the Upward Bound office and school personnel in target schools Plan and implement weekly study sessions at each school Maintain accurate records of student contact and study session attendance Provide personal and career counseling to assist students in preparing for postsecondary education Assist participants in completion of postsecondary application forms Assist with monthly Saturday meetings on the Vincennes University campus Chaperone college and cultural trips during the monthly campus meetings Disseminate information to students and parents regarding Upward Bound activities and meetings Perform other duties as assigned by Director and Assistant Director The successful candidate has: Bachelor's degree preferred in education, counseling, or related field Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to a diverse population Ability to work independently and be self-motivated Ability to travel within the target area Proficient computer skills Sensitivity toward the needs and interests of educationally disadvantaged individuals Understanding of FERPA requirements Interested applicants should submit a Vincennes University application, cover letter, resume/cv, and full contact information for three professional references.
