Community Support Our excellent team coordinates and volunteer at specialized workshops of customers and take part in community activities like helping old age homes, running for a cause, etc.. Transition Counselor Fort Knox, KY Key Responsibilities Conduct Pre-Separation Briefings, Transition Overview Courses, MOS Crosswalk Courses and pre-separation counseling. Provide Individualized Initial Counseling one-on-one and synchronously, in accordance with
AR 600-81.
Assist clients in initiating and developing the Individual Transition Plan, and review and update it at every follow-up session. Assign each client a tier level based on the Enterprise Individualized Self-Assessment and all IIC inputs. Ensure every separating client completes DD Form 2648 / DD 2648-1 and the Capstone event to receive DD Form 2958 and meet VOW/CRS requirements.
Provide education counseling:
education and occupational goal setting, school admission applications, and guidance on Montgomery GI Bill, Post-9/11 GI Bill, FAFSA and scholarships. Notify clients of the Career Skills Program during IIC, assist with applications, and track attendance and completion in the TAP system of record within two business days. Assist clients in translating military skills into language private sector employers understand; provide resume critiques and interview support. Verify client registration in VA.gov and refer unregistered clients to VA Benefits Advisors. Refer clients disclosing mental health concerns to the appropriate resource — counselors do NOT conduct mental health assessments or provide mental health services. Provide clients disclosing sexual assault with information on special victims' counsel eligibility. Complete all mandatory Government training, safeguard PII, file records per ARIMS Support job fairs, employer days and classroom events as directed by the CIM. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree, or a documented 2:1 experience substitution, per Technical Exhibit E. Minimum two years' career counseling, education, advising or related experience. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to learn and use the TAP system of record (TAP XXI). US citizenship; Tier 1 background investigation and CAC. Preferred Qualifications Prior SFL-TAP counseling experience. Military service, or experience working with Service Members and military Families. Group facilitation and classroom instruction experience.
