Overview The Teen & Alumni Director is responsible for strengthening Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia's engagement with teens and young adults by supporting recruitment, retention, high school success, postsecondary and workforce planning, and long-term alumni engagement. Working directly under the supervision of the K2C Director, the Teen & Alumni Director will work closely with the K2C team, Unit Directors, school personnel, families, community partners, colleges, employers, and other organizations to ensure that teens receive the support, resources, encouragement, and connections necessary to successfully navigate high school and transition into adulthood. The Teen & Alumni Director will serve as a consistent point of contact for teens and alumni, functioning in a case-management and mentoring capacity. The position will help young people identify goals, overcome barriers, develop individualized plans for their futures, and access the resources necessary to successfully pursue education, employment, military service, credentialing, or other appropriate pathways. The position will also maintain ongoing relationships with Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia alumni and follow their progress into adulthood, helping connect former members to resources, opportunities, and support when needed. Essential Responsibilities Teen Recruitment and Retention Work closely with the K2C Director and K2C team to recruit teens into Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia programming. Develop and implement strategies to increase teen membership, participation, and retention. Build relationships with middle schools, high schools, school counselors, teachers, administrators, families, and community organizations to identify and recruit teens who would benefit from Club services. Work with Unit Directors and program staff to identify teens who are disengaging or at risk of discontinuing participation. Conduct outreach to youth and families when participation declines. Identify barriers that prevent teens from attending or participating consistently and help develop strategies to address those barriers. Help create a Club environment in which teens feel valued, connected, challenged, supported, and invested. Encourage teens to take advantage of leadership, career, academic, service, and enrichment opportunities offered through Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia. Support recruitment of teens into K2C and other organizational programs. Individualized Teen Support and Case Management Develop meaningful, supportive relationships with participating teens. Serve as a consistent adult resource for teens as they navigate academic, personal, career, and transition-related challenges. Meet individually with teens as appropriate to discuss goals, needs, barriers, and progress. Help youth identify short-term and long-term educational, career, and personal goals. Develop individualized plans with teens outlining steps toward graduation and successful transition into adulthood. Monitor progress toward identified goals and provide ongoing encouragement and accountability. Identify barriers that may interfere with a young person's success and help connect the youth and family to appropriate internal or community resources. Maintain appropriate documentation of services, referrals, goals, and follow-up. Coordinate services with the K2C team to avoid duplication and ensure comprehensive support. The Teen & Alumni Director is not intended to replace licensed mental-health, medical, legal, or other professional services. When needs fall outside the scope of the position, the Director will facilitate appropriate referrals. High School Navigation and Graduation Support The Teen & Alumni Director will help youth successfully navigate high school and remain on a path toward graduation.
Responsibilities include:
Help teens understand graduation requirements, academic expectations, and important school deadlines. Encourage regular school attendance and academic engagement. Assist youth in identifying academic barriers and connecting with tutoring, credit recovery, mentoring, or other available supports. Monitor academic progress when appropriate and permitted. Encourage youth to communicate with teachers, counselors, and school personnel when assistance is needed. Help students identify appropriate courses, programs, certifications, dual-credit opportunities, career pathways, and extracurricular activities. Assist seniors in developing clear transition plans prior to graduation. Identify youth at risk of dropping out or failing to graduate and coordinate additional support with the K2C Director, families, schools, and appropriate partners. Celebrate academic milestones, high school graduation, certifications, employment achievements, and other significant accomplishments. Postsecondary and Career Planning The Teen & Alumni Director will help every participating teen develop a realistic plan for life after high school.

Assist teens with college and training-program exploration. Help youth understand admissions requirements and application timelines. Assist with completion of applications for colleges, technical programs, scholarships, training opportunities, and employment. Help youth access information regarding financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Coordinate with appropriate staff and partners regarding FAFSA completion and financial-aid resources. Assist teens in developing resumes, cover letters, job applications, and interview skills. Help youth identify internships, apprenticeships, job-shadowing opportunities, summer employment, and other career-development experiences. Connect teens with employers, colleges, workforce agencies, training providers, and other community resources. Help young people develop practical life and workforce-readiness skills necessary for adulthood.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
