Job Description

Position:
Workforce Development / Employment Specialist Reports to :
Director of Employment and Workforce Initiatives Hours:
40 hours per week
Location:
Hybrid - Remote /

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports a diverse caseload of job seekers with needed career advancement support such as career planning, case management, job development and support with applications. Provides support to overcome other barriers to employment Supports caseload in obtaining vocational goals by finding employment: supporting with the job search, providing job development, supporting with resume and cover writing etc.
maintaining employment:
providing the support a client needs to keep their job whether by job coaching or regular check-ins providing or finding training opportunities needed to meet vocational goals helping to eliminate barriers to employment such as transportation, childcare, housing etc.: by helping clients to navigate systems and remain organized Creates an inviting and innovative job search environment, meeting regularly in person in the community or online platforms such as Zoom Assists individuals receiving services in obtaining competitive employment that is aligned with career goals Consistently connects with community employers in order to secure competitive jobs for clients Collaborates effectively with people with disabilities and their support teams (i.e., educators, parents, group homes, counselors, clinical professionals) to provide clear pathways to employment, or advance in existing careers Completes required service documentation and monthly reports Ensures appropriate communication with Workforce Development Department Communicates regularly with referring Career Counselors or state representative from MassAbility or to discuss individuals' progress and develop proactive plans to remove barriers to employment Provides follow-up support to individual clients once placed in a job Responsible for tracking and sharing all job leads Demonstrates a successful placement rate Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Language skills highly preferred Experience in the field preferred Must have valid driver's License and an acceptable driving record First Aid and CPR or willingness to become certified Must clear state and federal background check Language Skills Fluency in Khmer, Portuguese or Spanish are highly favorable Ability to verbally communicate, read, analyze, interpret, and write documents Ability to respond and navigate common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies, or family members
