About Empowerment Advocacy Group Empowerment Advocacy Group (EAG) is a CARF-accredited Community Rehabilitation Organization that helps individuals with disabilities and other employment barriers prepare for, obtain, and maintain competitive integrated employment. Our work is delivered in community settings, workplaces, schools, partner sites, and other locations where customers need employment support. Position Summary The Job Coach provides direct, hands-on employment support to individuals with disabilities at their worksite or assigned community employment setting. The Job Coach teaches job tasks, reinforces workplace expectations, supports communication and problem-solving, promotes independence, and gradually fades support as the employee becomes more successful on the job. Employment Status This is a Contingent, Part Time W-2 Position that includes in-person assigned worksites. Some documentation may be completed remotely. We are currently looking for candidates willing to service the Dearborn and Canton areas along with opportunities in the Livonia, Wayne, Taylor, Detroit/Mack area, Oak Park, Grosse Pointe, and surrounding service areas. Assignments vary by customer work schedule and program need; reliable transportation and availability is required and essential. Essential Responsibilities Provide individualized, on-site job coaching and follow-along support at customer worksites and community employment settings. Teach and model job tasks using clear, step-by-step instruction, demonstration, repetition, visual supports, prompting, and other individualized strategies. Support customers in workplace communication, social expectations, attendance, punctuality, organization, safety, and professional behavior. Observe job performance and identify practical supports, accommodations, or training strategies that may improve independence and retention. Communicate professionally with customers, employers, supervisors, EAG staff, and rehabilitation counselors as appropriate to the service. Assist customers with learning safe transportation or mobility routines when included in the authorized service and within staff training/role expectations. Complete timely, objective documentation including case notes, service records, progress reports, time studies, and other required records. Monitor progress and support appropriate fading of job coaching as the customer demonstrates independence. Provide coverage for early-morning, evening, weekend, or changing work schedules when accepted as part of an assignment. Follow workplace safety rules, EAG procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable program/authorization requirements. Perform physical job-coaching duties as required by the assignment, which may include standing, walking, bending, squatting, or lifting up to approximately 30 pounds. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least 18 years of age and able to pass required background checks. Strong communication, reliability, patience, professionalism, and ability to work independently in community settings. Ability to learn objective documentation and complete reports on time. Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation for positions requiring travel between community worksites. We are looking for individuals willing to work in a various counties per assignments that may be located in Wayne, Oakland, or Monroe Counties. Preferred Qualifications Experience in job coaching, direct support, special education, human services, workforce development, or disability services. Coursework or training in human services, education, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, or a related field. Experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental, physical, mental health, sensory, or other disabilities.
