About JCI Johnston County Industries, Inc. (JCI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people with disabilities and barriers to employment through training, employment, and community-based services. Since 1975, JCI has helped people build skills, find employment, and achieve greater independence. Position Overview We are looking for a dependable and motivated Transition Specialist to help high school students with disabilities prepare for life after graduation. This position provides Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), career exploration, job readiness training, and work-based learning experiences that help students build confidence, independence, and skills for their future. Essential Duties Provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) in schools, the community, and at job sites. Deliver group and one-on-one sessions focused on job readiness, career exploration, postsecondary planning, and self-advocacy. Supervise and support students participating in job shadowing, internships, and other work-based learning activities. Communicate and collaborate with schools, counselors, guardians, employers, and other partners to support student goals. Maintain accurate and timely records of student participation and services. Travel between schools, JCI locations, community sites, employers, and student worksites as needed. Follow established procedures and safety guidelines. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with high school students. Organized, dependable, and able to balance direct service with required documentation. Able to work independently while communicating effectively as part of a team. Comfortable working in schools, job sites, community settings, and professional environments. Ability to motivate and encourage students while supporting their individual goals. Job Details Work hours generally align with school schedules, Monday-Friday. Primary work locations include local high schools, job sites, community sites, and JCI offices. Travel between work locations is required. Orientation takes place at JCI's Smithfield and Selma campuses. Non-Essential Functions Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
