This position is an essential part of the Opioid Recovery & Resilience Program, helping participants build trust, develop coping strategies, and connect to community-based supports that promote long-term wellness. Responsibilities Provide empathetic, peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, utilizing your lived experience to foster trust and hope Assist clients in developing personalized recovery goals and action plans through motivational interviewing techniques Offer crisis intervention and crisis management support during urgent situations, ensuring safety and stabilization Mentor clients by sharing coping strategies, behavioral health insights, and addiction counseling approaches to promote self-efficacy Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans and document progress within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems Educate clients on available community resources, social services, and support networks to facilitate ongoing recovery efforts Maintain accurate records of interactions, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with organizational policies and confidentiality standards Key Responsibilities Provide peer-based support to individuals impacted by opioid use disorder, fostering recovery through shared lived experience. Offer mentorship, encouragement, and emotional support to clients navigating treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery goals. Assist clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to recovery such as housing instability, employment challenges, or transportation issues. Connect clients to recovery meetings, treatment resources, community programs, and social services. Model positive recovery behaviors and demonstrate effective coping and self-care strategies. Collaborate with case managers, clinicians, and community partners to provide coordinated, person-centered care. Facilitate or co-facilitate peer support groups, wellness workshops, or outreach activities. Maintain accurate and confidential records, documenting interactions and progress according to program policies. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and required trainings to support personal and professional growth. Qualifications Minimum 1 year relevant experience NC Certification as a Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) Must have lived experience with substance use recovery and be in active recovery for at least 1 year. Knowledge of opioid use disorder, recovery principles, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care. Ability to relate to clients with empathy, respect, and nonjudgmental support. Strong communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. Basic computer literacy for documentation and reporting. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
Pay:
