Coordinator provides direct implementation and coordination of HOSA-related healthcare career awareness and early-pipeline activities within an assigned rural Nevada region. Working under the supervision of the Regional Workforce Pathways Manager, the Coordinator serves as the primary day-to-day contact for participating schools and works directly with students, educators, school administrators, HOSA advisors, HOSA Nevada, and community partners to support school readiness, advisor development, student engagement, and connections to healthcare career exploration opportunities. While employed and supervised by High Sierra AHEC, the Coordinator will work closely with Nevada HOSA leadership on HOSA-specific programming, guidance, and implementation to ensure activities align with Nevada HOSA requirements, processes, and statewide programming. During Year 1 of WRRAP, the position will focus primarily on assessment and readiness activities, including identifying prospective school sites, recruiting and supporting advisors, evaluating site readiness, documenting school needs, and preparing schools for potential future mini-grants and HOSA implementation. Chapter launch, conferences, competitions, and expanded student programming will occur in later phases only when consistent with the approved work plan, school readiness, organizational approval, and available funding. This is a coordinator-level direct service and program implementation position. The Regional Workforce Pathways Manager retains responsibility for regional strategy, higher-level partnerships, staff supervision, performance management, and grant oversight. Regional Health Ambassadors support community relationships and local intelligence but do not supervise this position. K-12 and HOSA activities provide non-obligated career exploration and early-pipeline engagement. Participation does not create a service, employment, or rural-retention obligation for students. All effort charged to WRRAP must directly support the approved scope of work, school and student engagement, pathway activities, documentation, and program outcomes. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesYear 1 HOSA Assessment and Readiness Conduct outreach to prospective rural schools and assess interest, capacity, leadership support, student demand, advisor availability, and overall readiness for HOSA participation. Recruit and orient potential HOSA advisors and provide accurate information about program expectations, timelines, resources, and participation requirements. Complete and maintain site-readiness documentation and identify school-specific strengths, barriers, resource needs, and recommended next steps. Support preparation for potential future HOSA mini-grants, chapter development, and implementation without committing funds or launching activities before approval. Provide regular readiness updates and recommendations to the Regional Workforce Pathways Manager. School and Advisor Support Serve as the primary day-to-day program contact for participating and prospective schools within the assigned region. Develop and maintain working relationships with school administrators, educators, counselors, advisors, students, and other school-based partners. Coordinate closely with Nevada HOSA leadership and other appropriate education partners to ensure schools and advisors receive current, accurate guidance, resources, and information regarding HOSA requirements, opportunities, and implementation.

Provide hands-on support for advisor recruitment, readiness planning, student outreach, activity preparation, and approved chapter-development tasks. Maintain regular communication with schools, monitor progress, and elevate barriers requiring partnership, resource, or leadership support to the Manager. Student Engagement and Healthcare Career Exploration Engage students in age-appropriate HOSA and healthcare career exploration activities consistent with the approved program phase. Facilitate presentations, workshops, meetings, and career-awareness activities that build knowledge of healthcare professions and rural workforce opportunities. Provide students with accessible information about healthcare occupations, educational requirements, training pathways, credentialing, work-based learning, and related opportunities. Connect students with approved High Sierra AHEC programs, mentors, career-exposure activities, education resources, and external opportunities when appropriate. Encourage continued exploration and progression while clearly communicating that K-12 participation is voluntary and non-obligated. HOSA Activities and Later-Phase Implementation When authorized under the approved work plan and in coordination with Nevada HOSA, support chapter launch, student recruitment, activity planning, and ongoing HOSA participation.. Support participating schools, advisors, and students with preparation for and participation in approved Nevada HOSA meetings, leadership activities, conferences, competitions, and other student opportunities in coordination with Nevada HOSA.. Support program-related logistics, communications, materials, schedules, registrations, and participation requirements for participating schools and students in coordination with Nevada HOSA and the Regional Workforce Pathways Manager, as appropriate.. Support students and schools with preparation and appropriate follow-up for approved HOSA activities and events. Promote opportunities that strengthen student leadership, teamwork, career readiness, and exposure to healthcare professions. Participant Navigation and Referral Help students identify healthcare career pathways aligned with their interests, goals, educational stage, and available regional opportunities. Provide age-appropriate information and referrals to education, training, credentialing, career exploration, mentorship, work-based learning, and workforce-development resources. Document referrals and participant connections and conduct appropriate follow-up to support continued engagement. Refer needs requiring individualized workforce planning, eligibility determinations, supportive services, or higher-level intervention to the Manager or appropriate partner. Partnership and Regional Coordination Coordinate with healthcare professionals, employers, postsecondary institutions, training providers, and community partners supporting approved student activities. Work collaboratively with Regional Health Ambassadors by sharing school and student needs, coordinating local engagement, and using relevant community intelligence. Participate in school, community, HOSA Nevada, and program meetings related to assigned responsibilities. Represent High Sierra AHEC professionally during school-based activities, partner meetings, events, and community engagement. Program Tracking, Compliance, and Quality Improvement Maintain accurate and timely records of prospective and participating schools, advisors, students, readiness assessments, activities, referrals, and outcomes. Track progress toward assigned work-plan activities, deliverables, timelines, and performance measures and submit regular updates to the Manager. Collect and securely maintain required forms, permissions, surveys, assessments, attendance records, and other program documentation. Use student, educator, and partner feedback to identify opportunities to improve access, engagement, and program delivery. Comply with grant requirements, organizational procedures, school and district policies, participant privacy requirements, and approved program expectations. Youth Safety and Participant Protection Follow all applicable organizational, school, district, event, and partner requirements for working with minors. Obtain and document parental or guardian permissions when required and protect student privacy and confidential information. Maintain professional boundaries and ensure appropriate adult supervision, communication practices, transportation arrangements, and participant safeguards. Complete required background checks, training, incident reporting, and other youth-protection requirements associated with assigned activities. Promptly report safety concerns, suspected misconduct, or policy violations through established organizational and school procedures. Other Duties Perform other program-related duties as assigned to support High Sierra AHEC's mission, approved WRRAP goals, and rural healthcare workforce priorities. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have regular supervisory responsibility. The

Coordinator may provide task-level guidance to interns, volunteers, student leaders, or temporary program personnel participating in approved activities, as assigned by the Regional Workforce Pathways Manager. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, public health, health education, workforce development, youth development, community health, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. At least two years of relevant experience in K-12 education, youth programming, career exploration, healthcare workforce development, community-based programming, or a related field. Experience working directly with students, educators, school administrators, families, or community partners. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple schools, activities, timelines, relationships, and documentation requirements with appropriate supervision. Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with youth and adults from diverse social, cultural, economic, geographic, and educational backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Experience with HOSA, Career and Technical Education, student leadership organizations, healthcare career pathways, or rural schools. Experience facilitating student presentations, workshops, events, career exploration, or work-based learning activities. Knowledge of rural Nevada communities, education systems, healthcare occupations, and barriers affecting student participation. Experience with grant-funded programs, program data, participant documentation, or performance reporting. Knowledge and Skills Strong school engagement, youth communication, facilitation, organization, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills. Ability to explain healthcare careers and education pathways clearly and in an age-appropriate manner. Ability to follow established work plans, policies, youth safeguards, grant requirements, and supervisory direction. Ability to maintain accurate records and use office software, presentation tools, data-tracking platforms, and virtual meeting systems. Sound judgment, cultural humility, professionalism, adaptability, and respect for student and family choice. Work Environment and Travel This position works in office, school, and community-based environments, including classrooms, school events, healthcare organizations, partner locations, conferences, competitions, and off-site meetings. Regular travel throughout the assigned rural Nevada region is required. Occasional evening, weekend, overnight, and out-of-region travel may be necessary for approved program activities, meetings, events, or training. License and Physical Requirements Must possess a valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. Occasional physical effort may be required, including lifting supplies or equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
