Adult Workforce Development Director/Special Grants Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Tutor & Assessment Specialist provides academic instruction and assessment services for adults participating in the Adult Workforce Diploma Program, Aspire, and Workforce Development initiatives. This position supports participants in improving foundational academic skills, increasing TABE scores, preparing for workforce credential programs, and meeting the requirements to earn an Ohio High School Diploma. The position also serves as the primary administrator and proctor for monthly ACT WorkKeys assessments while collaborating with Aspire, Workforce Development staff, and training partners to promote student success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide individual and small-group tutoring in reading, mathematics, language arts, digital literacy, and workplace readiness.
2. Assist participants in improving TABE scores and academic skills required for credential training.
3. Develop instructional activities based on assessment results and monitor participant progress.
4. Coordinate, administer, and proctor monthly ACT WorkKeys assessments while maintaining testing security and documentation.
5. Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and participant records in compliance with program requirements.
6. Provide academic coaching, study strategies, and encouragement to promote persistence and completion.
7. Collaborate with Aspire staff, Workforce Development personnel, instructors, and community partners to support participant success.
8. Identify barriers to learning and refer participants to appropriate support services.
9. Participate in required meetings, professional development, and Aspire certification training.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Workforce Director or Special Grants Supervisor.
11. Proctoring as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience teaching, tutoring, or working with adult learners preferred.
2. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and educational technology.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with multiple departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Complete all required Aspire Professional Development and certification training.
2. Be able to obtain Workforce Development (Adult) License as required by the State Department of Education.
3. Complete ACT WorkKeys Proctor Certification, if required.
SALARY:
Hourly wage $22.00/per hour
WORK WEEK/YEAR
Part-Time - 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Tuesday through Thursday
