GENERAL SUMMARY
The Sisters of St. Francis are seeking a dedicated professional with experience in student services, data collection, and management to provide academic advising to students in its TRiO Upward Bound Program, which helps high school students from low-income families or first-generation college backgrounds prepare for and succeed in higher education. The Advisor must possess a bachelor's degree in any field, and have strong computer experience; functional knowledge of office and program administration; sensitivity and ability to relate to students/staff of all social, economic and cultural backgrounds; and the ability to work independently and with confidential information.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote the values of the Sisters of St. Francis by demonstrating behaviors supportive of and a commitment to reverence; service and stewardship, including respect and involvement; community and teamwork; open and effective communication; and efficient and effective resource use. Adhere to SOSF policies, procedures, and objectives. Exhibit professionalism, kindness, and respect in attitude, attire, workspace, and interpersonal communications. Duties performed under the direct supervision of the Director include: 1. Academic advising, monitoring student schedules and transcripts and reporting concerns to the Academic Skills Coordinator and Director. 2. Assisting in the recruiting of participants for the UB program and serving as a liaison with schools. 3. Monitoring the after school program. 4. Maintaining computer databases and hard copies of student files, which involves creating and updating student files with student grades, grade point averages, and personal information. 5. Assisting the Director with qualitative and quantitative evaluation, preparation of internal and external reports such as personnel/program evaluations, inventory control and data. 6. Assisting in providing personnel, payroll and office services. 7. Managing the subsidized food program during the summer component. 8. Planning cultural and university visits. 9. Implementing the financial literacy program. 10. Assisting the Director with APR data entry. 11. Managing the Upward Bound inventory including checking in/out iPads and other items to Upward Bound students. 12. Communicating frequently with program participants through a variety of communication channels such as email, text and phone calls. 13. Counseling students through career development and college application processes. 14. Performing administrative duties including, but not limited to, meeting minutes, property inventory, ordering office supplies, preparation of correspondence and public information materials, and maintaining budget records. 15. Attending staff meetings and assisting with the planning and execution of Upward Bound events and activities. 16. Performing all other job-related duties to ensure the success of the program and its participants as assigned by the Director.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in any field. Valid driver's license required The position is a full-time, 12-month position contingent upon receipt of continued federal funding of the TRiO Upward Bound grant.
