Job Description

Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Part-Time Academic Advisor position. The Part-Time Academic Advisor provides one-on-one as well as group academic, career and college transfer advising to students resulting in a heightened level of student engagement, comprehensive decision-making and utilization of a vast array of services to support student success. This position is 5 days per week with a total of 25 hours per week. During peak times, employees may work up to 29 hours. Must be available to workday, evening and weekend hours.
  • This position has college-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations.
  • This position requires the candidate to submit the following 3 clearances as a condition of pre-employment: Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Check, and FBI Fingerprints
  • Flexible work may be considered for this position.
Essential Knowledge & Skills Education/Training/Work Experience Master's degree from an accredited institution required. Advising experience required, preferably at a community college. Experience with Health Science students and/or Minority populations preferred. Bilingual/multilingual/Spanish-speaking preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of student development theory, including career and transfer decision making. Experienced in developmental or college level advising. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of technologies. Evidence of continued professional growth and development. Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as under-resourced groups and first-generation students. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.
