Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and student-focused Counselor to join our Job Corps team. In this impactful role, you will provide comprehensive guidance, counseling, and support services to young adults as they work toward achieving their academic, career, and personal development goals. You will help students navigate personal, social, behavioral, and emotional challenges while fostering resilience, self-confidence, and success through individualized counseling, case management, and evidence-based interventions. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with instructors, residential staff, wellness personnel, and community partners to create a supportive environment that promotes student retention, employability, and overall well-being. Duties Conduct comprehensive student assessments to identify personal, academic, behavioral, and social needs, and develop individualized intervention and support plans in accordance with Job Corps policies and program requirements. Provide individual and group counseling to support students in overcoming personal barriers, developing effective coping strategies, improving decision-making, and achieving academic, career, and independent living goals. Deliver evidence-informed interventions and psychoeducational programming focused on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, emotional wellness, substance use prevention, healthy relationships, and life skills development. Respond to student crises by providing immediate support, conducting risk assessments, implementing appropriate interventions, and coordinating referrals to community mental health providers or emergency services when necessary. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation in compliance with Job Corps policies, applicable federal and state regulations, and organizational recordkeeping standards. Collaborate with instructors, residential advisors, health and wellness staff, career services, disability coordinators, and other multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement coordinated student success and retention strategies. Coordinate referrals to internal and external support services, monitor student progress, and provide ongoing case management to address barriers impacting program participation, completion, and successful career transition. Facilitate workshops and presentations that promote emotional wellness, resilience, leadership, workplace readiness, and positive social and behavioral skills. Build collaborative relationships with community agencies and behavioral health providers to ensure students have access to appropriate resources and continuity of care when needed. Support a safe, inclusive, and positive campus environment by promoting student engagement, conflict resolution, and adherence to Job Corps' behavioral expectations and standards of conduct. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience providing counseling, case management, or student support services, preferably working with adolescents or young adults. Experience supporting individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds, including those facing barriers to employment, housing, education, or personal success. Knowledge of counseling techniques, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, behavior management, and trauma-informed practices. Ability to assess student needs, develop individualized success plans, and provide appropriate referrals to internal and external support services. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish rapport and maintain professional boundaries. Experience facilitating group workshops or educational presentations on topics such as life skills, wellness, stress management, healthy relationships, and career readiness. Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with Job Corps policies, organizational procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management or student information systems. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including academic staff, career technical training instructors, residential advisors, health and wellness personnel, and community partners. Current CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe is preferred. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record may be required based on program needs. Bilingual skills are a plus. $52,000.00 per year
