Position Overview The Peer Recovery Specialist uses lived experience and recovery-focused skills to provide encouragement, mentorship, advocacy, and practical support to individuals navigating substance use or mental health challenges. Key Responsibilities Build supportive, trusting relationships with individuals receiving services Share personal recovery experience appropriately to provide hope and encouragement Help individuals identify personal goals and develop recovery plans Provide peer mentoring, advocacy, and emotional support Connect individuals with community resources, treatment programs, housing, employment, and other services Accompany or assist individuals in accessing community-based resources when appropriate Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and accurate documentation Participate in team meetings, trainings, and other professional-development activities Complete breathalyzers daily, as well as 2 UDS per week per client Qualifications Personal lived experience with recovery from substance use, mental health challenges, or both Strong commitment to supporting others in recovery Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Reliable, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach Peer Recovery Specialist certification
