May 2024 SUMMARY Under the direction of the Job Developer Team Leader, this position is responsible for ensuring participants maintain and retain careers that are consistent with their career goals and dreams. This involves establishing strong employer relationships, understanding the current labor market, and ensuring participants are being placed into high wage, high demand occupations. Our job development team will work closely with case managers to understand participants skills to help them become career ready. The two major performance areas are placement into a career that offers opportunities for advancement and that pays a family supporting wage and placing participants into work experiences sites. Well qualified individuals will embrace continuous quality improvement, develop, and implement career readiness services to meet the needs of our participants. The ability to embrace the Transition to Success model and believe that everyone has a dream worth pursuing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Ensure all participant interactions align with the TTS philosophy and job development practices. Work closely with the case management teams to analyze program participant needs, skills, and experience. Utilize assessment results (i.e.
TABE, WOWI
) to understand participant interests, needs, and skill sets. Work with individual program participants to develop appropriate work and/or volunteer placements. Understand the skills and qualifications necessary to work in a specific industry. Conduct mock interviews for appropriate career matching and connection opportunities. Survey employers on employment and training needs, projected skill shortages and understand the local labor market relative to trends and needs. Create and utilize a high wage/high demand job listing relative to employment opportunities for our program participants. Conduct employer contacts, markets individual program participants to agencies/employers, and negotiate volunteer work site placements and employment placements/hires. Develop, coordinate, and maintain volunteer opportunities that offer participant employment skills. Assist participants with employment skill building through individual meetings and/or group workshops. Assist with outreach services to build strong relationships with new employment opportunities and volunteer sites. Attends business/employer related meetings and activities including but not limited to Chamber of Commerce events, business services meetings, grand openings, business open houses, trade shows, job fairs, and Economic Development forums. Document and track participant career interests, needs, employments obtained while working with the job developer, current and past work experience participants, volunteer site information, and employer connections in a provided Excel document and TEAMS group. Provide monthly data and progress reports to Case Managers and the FSC leadership team. Responsible for entering all records and program-related data accurately and timely into the CARES and CWW computer systems. Responsible for meeting key performance indicators. Other duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Ability to display and deliver excellent customer service. Ability to work effectively with program participants and the case management team to understand and evaluate strengths, desires and needs for the participant success in obtaining and maintaining employment. Ability to assess and understand participant skills sets and connect them to the local labor market and hiring opportunities. Ability to market and create volunteer work experience sites and unsubsidized employment opportunities for program participants. Ability to assist participants with obtaining job readiness skills by assessing the career seeker and knowing the needs of the employers and employment community. Ability to work effectively with program participants, community organizations, and area employers. Ability to present curriculum and offer career seeking and soft skills workshops. Knowledge of acceptable practices related to cover letter and resume writing, as well as the application and interviewing process. Ability to articulate verbal communication professionally. Strong written skills in data entry, document preparation and creation. Ability to conduct outreach efforts on behalf of FSC and the local programs being offered. Ability to present information to small and large groups. Ability to respond to common inquiries from participants, employers/businesses, or regulatory agencies. Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and in a team environment. Ability to learn and implement program requirements and policy based upon state law and administrative rule. High level proficiency in Microsoft Office including: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational capabilities. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Associate degree and 2 to 3 years of job development/placement, sales, staffing industry, or related experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands for computers, phones and other office equipment. The employee may occasionally be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders, and may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Position may require travel to various other locations within the state. Must maintain a valid driver s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
