Overnight PRN Youth Shelter Care Staff - The Landing

PRN, as needed;
Non-Exempt Pay Range:
$21-22/hour plus $2/hour overnight pay differential
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Overnight Youth Shelter Care Staff oversees the safety and stability of the shelter during overnight hours, ensuring a calm and supportive environment for youth and young adults. The role involves maintaining a clean, organized, and functional facility while supporting basic needs and nightly routines. Staff respond to concerns as they arise, using sound judgment and de-escalation skills to promote safety and well-being. The position also requires clear, timely documentation and communication to support continuity of care across shifts. Throughout all responsibilities, staff maintain professional boundaries and contribute to a respectful, trauma-informed environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED is required. First aid/CPR and QMAP certifications are required. An associates degree in Psychology, human services, or a similar field is preferred. 1+ year of experience in human services is required. 2+ years of experience working in shelters or working with youth is preferred. Must be able to transport and have a clean driving record. Must pass a CBI/FBI fingerprint screening and drug test. Knowledge of local community and resources preferred. Bilingual/bicultural Spanish speaker is preferred but not required. Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities Overnight Supervision & Safety Monitoring
  • 35% Monitor participant areas, conduct regular safety checks, and ensure adherence to overnight routines and shelter policies. Respond to safety concerns, de-escalate conflicts, and coordinate emergency response when necessary. Facility Maintenance & Cleaning
  • 25% Maintain a clean, safe, and functional building throughout the overnight shift. Perform routine cleaning (e.g., bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, sleeping areas), trash and recycling removal, restocking of hygiene and cleaning supplies, and basic facility checks. Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors or operations staff. Facility Operations & Basic Needs Support
  • 20% Support evening and overnight operations, including room assignments (as applicable), hygiene and laundry access, snack distribution, and maintaining organized common and sleeping spaces. Documentation & Shift Handoffs
  • 10% Complete overnight logs, incident reports, and shift handoff notes. Communicate observations and follow-ups to supervisors and day staff to support continuity of care. Participant Engagement, Training & Professional Boundaries
  • 10% Build respectful, strengths-based relationships with youth and young adults while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Participate in required trainings and adhere to TMH policies related to confidentiality, mandated reporting, ethics, and professional conduct. Assist with other duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE
Schedule will be PRN, pick up shifts as needed.. Services will be provided in The Landing.
