Job Description
Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Resident Advisor/DSP (Direct Support Professional) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of adolescent individuals. We work together to improve lives every day. The Resident Advisor (RA) provides 24/7 supervision, support, and guidance to adolescent residents in a therapeutic residential setting. The role focuses on maintaining resident safety, supporting daily living skills and treatment goals, and creating a structured, positive, trauma-informed environment. This is an awake position. Main Responsibilities Supervise residents and assist them with following daily schedules and treatment plans. Help residents develop daily living skills, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, laundry, and housekeeping. Administer medications in accordance with CT DCF requirements. Transport residents to school, appointments, activities, shopping, and other community locations. Support residents with educational, vocational, and employment goals. Implement individual treatment and crisis plans. Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns, conflicts, and crises. Monitor and document safety concerns, incidents, and significant resident behaviors. Lead resident discussions and help facilitate conflict resolution. Support recreational, cultural, mentoring, and community activities. Communicate with residents' providers and other members of the treatment team. Complete required daily/monthly reports, incident reports, and other documentation. Attend staff meetings and required training. Qualifications Associate's degree in a human services field. Experience working with at-risk or behaviorally challenged adolescents. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and serve as a positive role model. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with trauma-informed care and strength-based approaches. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, web-based platforms, and Adobe PDF. Required Certifications & Background Checks The employee must have or obtain required certifications in: DCF Medication Administration CPR First Aid Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Risking Connections Required background and screening checks include national fingerprinting, CT State Police, CT DCF protective services, motor vehicle, physical/PPD screening, and applicable out-of-state background checks. Important Job Conditions This is an awake position . Staff coverage is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays . A valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and appropriate automobile insurance are required. The position reports to the Supervisor .
