Overview Join our compassionate team as a Private Caregiver, where your dedication and expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve. In this vital role, you will provide personalized, high-quality care to individuals with diverse needs, promoting their independence, safety, and well-being. Your proactive approach and empathetic nature will foster a supportive environment that enhances quality of life for clients across various settings, including private residences, assisted living communities, and memory care facilities. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to deliver essential patient care while building trusting relationships and ensuring residents' rights are always respected. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive personal care assistance, including help with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts. Monitor patients' health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and accurately documenting findings to ensure timely intervention. Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and privacy. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition. Support patients with cognitive impairments by implementing dementia and Alzheimer's care strategies, including memory care techniques and patient monitoring. Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning living areas, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment in accordance with health standards. Provide transportation assistance for appointments or errands while ensuring safety during transfers and travel. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate care plans and update on patient progress or concerns. Skills Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and first aid/CPR certification. Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, and hospice or palliative support. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely including heavy lifting and the use of patient transfer devices such as Hoyer lifts. Excellent communication skills for engaging with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders; experience working with autism or intellectual disabilities is highly valued. Knowledge of resident's rights policies and compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times. Capable of assisting clients with ADLs while promoting independence through personalized support plans.
