Job Description DV Case Manager Salary Non-Exempt Summary The DV Case Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of an individual's or family's needs relative to their safety, housing, and other client identified goals while they are residents of Penelope House. The DV Case Manager provides information and education relating to intimate partner violence issues. These issues include safety, assessment of immediate needs, social and mental health issues and coordinating services and referrals. In addition, the DV Case Manager provides backup support to the Penelope House Crisis Line and outreach services for the community and allied professionals. The DV Case Manager is supervised by the Shelter Supervisor. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 12-8 PM. Duties Duties will include, but not be limited to: Working with crisis issues with both in-shelter and out-of-shelter survivors of intimate partner violence, either by telephone or in person. Developing information and education geared to enabling survivors to articulate feelings and needs with the goal of setting up a case plan of providing safety and protection for shelter residents. Developing a protection/safety plan with necessary referrals, i.e., victim advocate. Determining survivors service need(s) by developing a case plan and providing necessary referrals to assist the survivor in overcoming barriers to move toward self-sufficiency. Providing one-on-one case management service to clients including advocacy, information, and referral services. Monitoring case plan through weekly staffing with case managers, victim advocates and other staff as appropriate. Maintaining and organizing case files and completing all required dictation and monthly reports. Assessing abuse of children in cooperation with the Child Advocate. Filing or oversee filing of reports for Adult and Child Abuse and Neglect with DHR and monitoring DHR involvement in order to advocate for provision of appropriate services. Providing coverage for intake/client needs/crisis calls as assigned. Providing transportation to clients and/or children as needed. Orienting new staff, interns, and volunteers to the DV Case Manager role. Performing other duties as needed by Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of the dynamics of intimate partner violence and available community services. Ability to maintain cultural competency, with excellent cross-cultural communication skills and ability to work with economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse clientele. Ability to be flexible to work in a fast-paced crisis intervention environment. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the client's needs. Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Preferably, graduation from an accredited master's level program in the field of counseling or social work. Licensed or eligible for licensure. The equivalent in training and experience will be considered. Must have a valid Alabama Driver's License and proof of liability insurance. Clearance through the State Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect. Must be U. S. citizen or provide proof of eligibility to work in this country.
