THIS POSITION IS PART OF THE NYS CIVIL SERVICE HELP PROGRAM WHICH DOES NOT REQUIRE A CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION AT THIS TIME.
This class consists of professional and administrative work involving a full range of assessment, case management, and direct service delivery. Caseworkers carry out continuing work assignments that require independent decisions in dealing with a wide range of routine, unusual, and complex situations. Caseworkers exercise considerable judgment in handling sensitive matters. Work is carried out under general supervision of a higher level position. Supervision may be exercised over subordinates and volunteers. Does related work as required. Examples of Typical Duties Makes home visits to interview clients, their family members and their informal supports; Compiles and evaluates information, identifies options and prepares recommendations and care plans to meet clients' needs; Monitors clients' progress toward meeting goals; Documents in case records all substantive contact with clients, their family members and their authorized representatives; Assures that job duties are performed in compliance with federal, state and county regulations; Collaborates with other departments and community agencies to provide appropriate services to clients; Reviews and verifies information and documentation to determine eligibility for various programs; Attends meetings and trainings as necessary for the maintenance of effective services; Consults with supervisor on critical decisions. Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics Knowledge of the theories, principles and concepts of social casework; knowledge of community agencies and services; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of diverse populations; knowledge of effective interviewing techniques; ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information; ability to organize and prioritize work to give adequate attention to all cases; ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously; ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to understand oral and written instructions, policies and procedures; tact; courtesy; integrity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or a New York State registered four year college or university; or Possession of a current valid license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and one year of post licensure experience as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Special Requirement :
Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at time of appointment and maintenance of such license throughout the tenure of employment. When giving a job description include: Name of employer, Job Title, Duties performed by you, Start and End Date (Month/Year), Hours worked per week.
