B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. has a Protective Service Worker (PSW) opening out of our Montrose, PA office. This is a full-time position (40 hrs. a week; Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm) with benefits including health insurance, paid time off (vacation, sick, holiday, personal) and 401(k) with Agency contribution after a year of employment. Are you passionate about protecting vulnerable older adults and making a meaningful difference in your community? We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented professional to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, and self-neglect involving adults age 60 and older.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, and self-neglect.
Respond to emergency and crisis situations, including conducting visits in homes, hospitals, nursing facilities, and personal care homes.
Assess consumers' capacity, functional abilities, and safety needs.
Conduct interviews and navigate sensitive conversations with consumers, families, caregivers, and other involved parties.
Coordinate and arrange services to address substantiated concerns and promote consumer safety.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with required deadlines.

You should be able to think critically, analyze complex situations, make sound independent decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

A state police criminal clearance, child abuse clearance, and (if needed) FBI clearance are required. These will be obtained at no cost to the selected candidate. Travel throughout the Agency's service area is required. Applicants must have a reliable vehicle (when an agency vehicle is not available), valid car insurance, valid car registration, and a valid driver's license. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Minimum Education and Training Requirements:
One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor. Or
Bachelor's Degree which includes 12 college-level credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences. Or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college-level credits hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
