Job Description

Title:
Mental Health Caseworker 1 or 2
Location:
Forest Warren Human Services, Mental Health Program, 285 Hospital Drive, Warren, PA 16365 Full-time
  • 37-1/2 hours per week

50 This position in the Mental Health department primary responsibilities include assisting families whose children receive or are in need of receiving mental health services in navigating child serving systems. Position represents families while collaborating with other agencies and child serving systems.
Qualifications:
Caseworker 1: A Bachelor's Degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; OR Two years' experience as a Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions. Caseworker 2:
  • Six months as a Caseworker 1; OR
  • Successful completion of the social casework intern program; OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree with a social welfare or social work major; OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
Clearances:
Must have Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History, Act 151 PA Child Abuse and FBI clearances prior to employment. Other clearances may be required depending on the employee's state of residence. All clearances must reflect acceptable results. Clearances are to be renewed every five years.
Special:
If promotion is the method to fill this position, the following selection criteria will be used: 1. Employees who currently have or have had regular status as a Caseworker 2 or 3 and Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist will be considered. Applications will be received and reviewed to determine if employees previously held regular status or currently hold regular status in a class for which there is a logical occupational, functional, or career development relationship to the posted position or if there is a clear linkage between the required knowledges, skills, and abilities of the previously or currently held class with those needed for the posted position. 2. Must meet the minimum qualifications listed above. 3. Must be able to obtain the Unqualified Recommendation for Promotion signed by current supervisor. Only the final selected candidate must provide the Unqualified Recommendation for Promotion Form. 4. Promotions will be based on the following: a.
Meritorious Service:
The absence of any discipline above the level of a written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of this posting; and, the last due overall regular or probationary performance evaluation is neither "unsatisfactory" or "fails to meet standards". b.
