Full Job Description Job Opening:

Youth Ministry Coordinator University Congregational United Church of Christ is a large, dynamic, progressive church in the University District of Seattle, WA. We are seeking a Youth Ministry Coordinator to support our Christian Formation Ministry.

Position Type :

Part Time (20 hours/week)

Pay:

$27-$30/hour depending on experience (non-exempt)

Weekly Schedule:

Sunday mornings from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm from September to June, other hours flexible as dictated by the needs of the job, which may include some evenings and weekends Reports to: Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries Directly supervises: Youth Ministry volunteers

Minister of Vision and Vitality About this position: The coordinator's role is to implement and oversee programming that nurtures the spiritual development of the youth and families within UCUCC from 6th to 12th grade. The coordinator works within the vision of UCUCC's Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries (DCYF) and the Youth Ministry Committee (YM). Their role is to manage all the elements of the youth ministry and engage in the lives of youth, families, and volunteers.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Proven experience with youth programs, secondary education, and/or church ministry. Schedule flexibility as dictated by the needs of the job which may include evenings and weekends. Some remote work can be negotiated. Sunday mornings must be in person. Enjoys working as a part of a larger team, while being comfortable with independent work. Comfortable leading volunteers and maintaining a team of leaders. Skilled at event planning and leadership. Has strong and mature faith in God, with the ability to promote the values and theologies consistent with University Congregational UCC. Skill with multiple technologies, including hosting Zoom, social media, Microsoft Office and Teams applications, WordPress, Canva, and MailChimp applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

First Aid, CPR certified Current Food Handler Permit Our Whole Lives facilitator certification Understanding of the spiritual, emotional, and general developmental needs from 6th to 12th grade, and the family dynamics that support that development.

Essential Functions:

Implement faith formation programming and worship experiences for youth in collaboration with the DCYF, including leading on a regular basis Assist the DCYF with planning and leading youth activities, retreats, trips, and camps including participating in planning, and attending Seabeck All-Church Camp each July. Effectively manage youth ministry volunteers through the on-boarding process, specifically, completing background and fingerprinting processes as necessary. Schedule and coordinate youth ministry leaders and provide leader training and curriculum. Ensure all necessary supplies and resources are prepared for each youth ministry gatherings. Be present on Sunday mornings to connect with youth and families. Be present at all youth ministry regular programming and special events. Coordinate the procurement of all supplies, resources, or vendors needed for youth ministry special programs. Keep leaders and parents informed of current programming by using email, phone (call & text), and social media. Provide information to congregation via printed worship announcements, newsletters, articles, bulletin boards, and website. Purchase necessary books, supplies, and equipment for classes and events. Establish and maintain competencies in child safety requirements and maintain first aid protocol status. Collaborate with facilities staff to arrange building usage and safety. Regularly check to ensure safety equipment is available and in good working condition, and remove any potential hazards. Ensure adult/youth ratios, games, furniture, and equipment meet ministry best practices. Maintain attendance records and monitor/review gathering sizes, track event registration and logistics. Manage and record all expenditures within approved budget by keeping detailed records. Work with office staff to maintain database of parent/youth contact information and calendar of events. Role:

Able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time, e. g. a half hour at a time. Able to operate a computer and other office equipment. Able to lift 15 pounds safely and without difficulty. Must be able to sit, move about, bend, and lift for the duration of a program or event. Possesses a valid Washington State driver's license and can operate a motor vehicle. Have access to transportation and ability to be in person Sunday mornings and at other events, with some remote work negotiable
