The Kids Ministry Director at StoryHill Church provides leadership and oversight for ministry to kids from birth through 5th grade. This role reports to the Family Life & Connections Director and partners to cultivate a safe, engaging, and spiritually formative environment where kids and families feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the life of the church. The Kids Ministry Director leads programming, curriculum, and volunteer teams, ensuring weekend services are well-organized, Christ-centered, and executed with excellence. This position requires strong leadership, relational skills, and a heart for partnering with families in the discipleship of their children. This is a part-time position (20-25 hours/week) that ideally includes two office days, weekend worship services and occasional special events. Key Responsibilities Ministry Leadership & Programming Provide overall leadership and vision for birth-5th grade ministries in alignment with StoryHill Church's mission and values Plan, coordinate, and oversee engaging kids programming that supports spiritual growth and age-appropriate learning Collaborate with the Family Life team to plan and execute seasonal or quarterly children-centered events and ministry initiatives Manage the Kids Ministry budget and ensure classrooms and ministry spaces are stocked, prepared, and ready for use Curriculum & Preparation Select, oversee and prepare the implementation of kids ministry curriculum in collaboration with the Family Life team Ensure curriculum scripts, supplies, and classroom materials are prepared and accessible for volunteers in advance Maintain systems that support consistency, quality, and ease of use for volunteer leaders Volunteer Leadership & Scheduling Recruit, train, equip, and care for Kids Ministry volunteers Schedule volunteers for Sunday mornings and special events using Planning Center, ensuring appropriate coverage for all rooms and services Conduct volunteer interviews, orientations, and onboarding, including background checks and system setup Provide regular communication, encouragement, and development opportunities for volunteers Foster a positive, unified, and supportive team culture within Kids Ministry Family Engagement & Care Create a welcoming and safe environment for kids and families during check-in, programming, and pick-up Be present for all service times to support families, greet new guests, and assist volunteers as needed Follow up with parents regarding incidents, questions, or care needs related to their children Partner with families to help them feel connected and supported within the church community Create and distribute meaningful take-home resources that help extend Sunday's lessons into everyday moments at home Administration & Team Collaboration Utilize Planning Center to manage scheduling, check-ins, reports, and ministry data Participate in weekly one-on-one and Family Life team meetings Communicate clearly and consistently with staff and volunteers regarding ministry needs, updates, and expectations Support other Family Life initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications A genuine and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through character and lifestyle A passion for kids ministry and partnering with families in faith formation Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills Ability to recruit, schedule, and lead volunteer teams effectively
