Building One Community (B1C) is a Stamford, Connecticut-based nonprofit supporting the successful integration of immigrants and their families. At B1C, immigrants acquire the tools they need to thrive. We provide free services that educate, employ, empower and engage immigrants and the broader community. Our programs include English Language classes, Family and Individual Support Services, Academic Enrichment Programs, Immigration Legal Services, and Workforce Development programs.
Position:
The Community Support Coordinator will provide case management and family support services to immigrant individuals and families, helping them navigate basic needs assessments, referrals, and access to B1C programs and community resources. This role focuses on direct case management, connecting participants to appropriate services, and providing ongoing follow-up to support family stability and well-being. This part-time, 25-hour-per-week position requires on-site attendance and reports to the Family Services Manager. It involves occasional evening and weekend assignments.
Primary Duties:
Meet with program beneficiaries and assess needs during the intake process; complete basic needs assessments and develop a plan to address expressed needs. Provide general case management assistance to program beneficiaries with domestic violence, medical care, emergency support, mental health services, housing assistance, and other critical needs. Connect program beneficiaries to both internal and external services to address critical needs and ensure access to the appropriate resources and support, and conduct participant follow-up to track progress and outcomes. Establish and maintain up-to-date case files in a timely manner; enter and manage data in the Salesforce database; generate reports, track trends, and analyze program outcomes to enhance and improve service delivery. Work hand in hand with fellow Family Services team members on events, donation distributions, and other shared initiatives, while also collaborating with the Community Engagement team to establish and expand connections with community agencies and partner organizations that support family needs. Coordinate and support onsite events in partnership with local service providers (e.g., information sessions, resource fairs, family support workshops). Provide broader family support services, including guidance on navigating public benefits, school systems, and other community resources. Supervise and engage volunteers supporting family support activities and events, ensuring they are effectively contributing to program goals and assisting beneficiaries with their needs. Qualifications & Skills Fluency in Spanish and English with demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Minimum 2 years of experience providing social services or case management to immigrant or underserved populations. Bachelor's degree in a social services field required. Strong multicultural awareness, trauma-informed interpersonal skills, and compassion in working with diverse populations. Strong ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and projects are delivered on time. Flexibility to travel to satellite offices and other off-site locations as needed. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software and familiarity with Salesforce or other database systems, is a plus.
