Director of Childcare / ELC Executive Director Basic Functions and Scope of Responsibility The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and coordination of high-quality youth programming for elementary-aged children, including afterschool and summer camp. Under the supervision of the Director of Childcare, this role ensures program compliance with licensing and curriculum standards while creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment. The Youth Program Coordinator also supervises program staff, supports academic and social-emotional development, and builds strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners. Role Responsibilities Plan, implement, and oversee daily afterschool program activities that promote academic, social, and emotional growth Develop creative and interactive enrichment and academic activities for students in grades K-8 Supervise program staff; provide leadership, training, and support to ensure high-quality delivery Maintain strong relationships with school staff, families, and community partners to enhance program effectiveness Plan and facilitate family engagement activities and student showcases Ensure a safe and welcoming environment that meets all risk management and licensing requirements Support students with homework and academic tasks in a positive and encouraging manner Follow YMCA policies related to youth safety, boundaries, and mandated reporting Monitor supplies, help with setup and cleanup, and ensure spaces remain organized and child-friendly Attend YMCA trainings and meetings as required Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Childcare Education, Experience & Training High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred Minimum of two years of experience in out-of-school-time programming or working with school-age children Minimum of one year of supervisory experience Completion of all required trainings and background screenings for LLEP (Legally Licensed Exempt Provider) programs CPR, AED and First Aid certification obtained within 30 days of employment Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners Commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for all youth
