To reduce the trauma associated with the disclosure of child abuse by providing crisis intervention, counseling, information/referral services, and advocacy for child victims and their non-offending family members and/or caregivers.
Brief Description of Duties:
Maintain strict standards of confidentiality Implement and maintain evidence-based tools to measure program effectiveness and overall client satisfaction with center services Enter data into the case tracking system Complete client notes and ensure all client contact is included in the client file and data tracking system Serve as a resource for professionals and community partners Represent the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center (NKYCAC) in center-related activities Perform other tasks and responsibilities as requested Respond to telephone and written inquiries for assistance and/or information Coordinate interviews and medical examinations for children with their custodian/caregiver and the appropriate investigative agencies Provide support and assistance to child victims and/or non-offending caregivers during medical examination and forensic interview appointments Make initial contact/reminder calls with the custodian once an interview is scheduled to answer any preliminary questions and respond to the immediate and ongoing needs of child abuse victims and their non-offending caregivers Provide support, educational information, and crisis counseling to families Meet with MDT members and other NKYCAC staff to review investigations, family dynamics, and general case information during forensic interview appointments Make referrals for appropriate community services for the child victims and their non-offending family members Assist in identifying potential safety concerns of the family and share that information with the investigative MDT members Review the Domestic Violence Screen during forensic interview appointments and assess and address any safety concerns of the individual who completed the screening. Provide resources for safety options. Make investigators aware of any concerns and plans created Follow through with any recommendations of the team that would require the services of the family advocate Work closely with community professionals and other Victim Advocates to coordinate services for child victims of abuse Provide follow-up/ongoing services through telephone, written, and/or in-person contact for child victims and their non-offending family members Assist in applications for services as needed, including Crime Victim Compensation forms
Position Qualifications:
Education • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Social Work or human relations field License • Licensed preferred but not required
