Step into a vital role serving students in the New Orleans area as a School Social Worker focused on pupil appraisal services. This contract opportunity spans the academic year, with immediate start and full-time hours (35 per week), following the school calendar. In this unique capacity, youll work closely with school psychologists and educational diagnosticians to support students eligibility for Special Education services, rather than providing ongoing direct service. Youll be an itinerant team member, traveling between 2-3 assigned schools to carry out comprehensive evaluations, re-evaluations, and testing. Your insights will guide educational teams during SBLC (School Building Level Committee)/ABIT meetings, and youll monitor interventions, coordinate evaluations, and ensure compliance with all requirements. This position is part of the Pupil Appraisal Department, offering the chance to make a broad impact across schools.

Qualifications:

Active Louisiana DOE Certification and current professional license required Prior school-based social work experience preferred, especially in assessment or pupil appraisal roles Strong evaluative, organizational, and communication skills to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team Familiarity with the Special Education eligibility process and relevant assessment tools
