Job Description

The mission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church located in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Full-time Receptionist and Child Protection Policy Coordinator. Receptionist A motivated self-starter with a welcoming, professional demeanor, and possess a positive attitude (a joy to be around). An expert communicator, on the phone and by email. A lover of people and administration with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Proactive, reliable, well organized, and an effective multi-tasker. Able to remain highly productive and work independently with minimal supervision, and be able to work as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy with documents. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Proficient in time management and able to meet deadlines. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Answer incoming calls and assist callers or direct to the appropriate staff Maintain parish email responding to request and inquiries in a timely manner Keep church database up to date and accurate (entering weekly offertory) Type and prepare correspondence/documents Screens and distribute mail and other related materials Maintains and update sacramental registers Process Mass card request Other duties as assigned by the Pastor Child Protection Coordinator The Office of Child Protection works to ensure that all children and youth in programs throughout the diocese have a safe environment full of caring and responsible adults to watch over them. The Office of Child Protection performs background checks and safe environment training for adults and youth in accordance with the requirements of the Archdiocese of Washington on the Protection of Children. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintain databases/files of information in regard to Child Protection Policy (CPP) and
Virtus:
Protecting God's Children. Develop an understanding of and familiarity with Archdiocese of Washington for the Protection of Children and Young People. Provide CPP training to parish volunteer personnel. Coordinate trainings and make all arrangements in regard to facilities. Respond to general inquiries regarding compliance with Virtus/Child Protection Policy programs. Assist in process/collection of data for both Virtus/Child Protection Policy program. Conduct routine internal audit.
Requirements:
College Degree Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidates must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as excellent organizational and people skills. Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel) required and knowledge of CMS (Church Management Solutions) software a plus. Good working knowledge of Catholic terms and practice.
