Job Description

Dryden Elementary School Early Childhood Behaviorist Strong Beginnings and Free PreK for ALL part-time, non-union, at-will position General Information We are a high quality early childhood program that follows all rules and regulations of the State of Michigan Child Care Licensing as well as the Michigan Department of Education. We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Behaviorist to join our team. In this role, you won't just manage behaviors; you will be the bridge between frustration and communication for our youngest learners. You'll work hands-on with children, empower teachers with new strategies, and partner with families to create stability at home. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, creative, personable and dependable, possess both a strong work ethic and solid verbal and written communication skills, have a warm and friendly personality, and relate well to children and adults. Additionally, applicants must have a current negative TB test, pass a criminal background check as well as a child abuse/neglect check. Experience with young children is required. Education/Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Child Development, or Special Education. Deep understanding of ABA principles and/or trauma-informed care. Experience with data collection and analysis and development of Behavior Intervention Plans. Responsibilities Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Conduct observations and assessments and track data to determine the function of behaviors (FBA) Create, monitor, and adjust Individualized Plans (BIPs) to replace negative actions with positive ones. Promote skill development in the areas of communication, social, and daily living skills.
Crisis Intervention:
Use non-violent techniques to help a child regain emotional regulation. After a crisis, meet with staff to analyze what went wrong and how to prevent a recurrence.
Teacher Consultation:
Support teachers through modeling de-escalation techniques, conduct environmental assessments, and assist in modifying classroom layouts.
Parent Education:
Conduct home visits to coach parents on how to handle tantrums or bedtime routines using Positive Behavior Support (PBS).
Staff Training:
Collaborate to find or lead workshops on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), principles or trauma-informed care, etc. Hours/Wage Monday-Thursday 5.5 hours/day at $40/hour (Labor Day to Memorial Day-following the school calendar) Contact Lindsay Koroleski at lkoroleski@drydenschools.org
