Non-exempt/Hourly Summary The Native American Liaison provides tutoring, academic support, and culturally responsive guidance to Native American students and families. This position promotes positive learning environments, develops supportive relationships with students, advocates within school systems, and connects families with appropriate educational resources. The ideal candidate is compassionate, culturally sensitive, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring, academic support, and study skills assistance based on individual student needs and grade level.
• Schedule and facilitate tutoring sessions and after-school education programs as needed.
• Build positive relationships with students and communicate regularly with parents/guardians, teachers, and school districts regarding student needs and progress.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop academic support plans and advocate for students and families within school systems.
• Maintain appropriate documentation regarding student participation, progress, and support provided.
• Provide support at the Education Department in the childcare, preschool, higher education programs, local school district, Recreation Department and other appropriate locations as needed.
• Assist with youth activities, events, and outings, including occasional evening and weekend activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned. Skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal, tutoring, and mentoring skills.
• Compassionate, patient, culturally sensitive, and approachable.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, schools, and community programs.
• Basic to intermediate mathematical skills appropriate for supporting grade-level coursework.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, internet research, and data entry.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Self-motivated, dependable, professional, and able to work independently.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
• Flexible and able to work occasional evenings and weekends. Qualifications
• At least six months of related experience and/or training working with Native American children.
• Associate degree (A.A.) in a related field preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogen Certifications.
• Valid Food Handler's Permit.
• Current Negative TB Test.

Work Environment This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and use of hands for writing and computer work. The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift and carry children and materials weighing up to 25 pounds. This position may involve occasional exposure to bodily fluids while assisting with childcare activities. Work may occur in office, school, childcare, youth center, and community settings, including occasional evening or weekend activities. Conditions of Employment
