Job Description

Intake and Crisis Advocate Victim Services
  • Provide intakes, peer support, in-person advocacy and follow-up to victims.
  • Assess and evaluate the victims' situations, formulate a plan of action, and take appropriate action.
  • Assist in prevention education to the community on domestic violence, sexual assault, and understanding of agency activities.
  • Other duties as assigned Hotline
  • Manage 24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline
  • Provide 24/7 back-up for advocates answering hotline calls every other month
  • Work with the Lead Crisis Advocate to prepare the monthly on-call calendar Volunteer Advocates
  • Supervise, recruit and train volunteer advocates
  • Organize and provide 40-hour advocacy training for new volunteers
  • Plan continuing education trainings for volunteers
  • Manage volunteers and hotline calendar
  • Other duties as assigned Intake Management
  • Provide intakes, update forms, and coordinate changes with current policies and procedures.
  • Communicate client needs, concerns, or incidents to staff.
  • Front Desk duties as needed, including answering phones and directing calls.
  • Manage client eligibility screening, prioritization, and referral processes across agency programs.
  • Monitor intake data and identify trends, service gaps, and client needs to improve program delivery.
  • Ensure timely response to crisis calls, walk-ins, and requests for services, providing appropriate referrals and resources.
Qualifications Ability to effectively communicate in speech and writing in English. Ability to work with limited supervision and prioritize tasks. Ability to function in and have tolerance in high stress situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteer advocates, the public, and community agencies. Awareness of ones' values, motivations, and personal history, and the influence ones' behaviors/emotions have on victims, co-workers and the public. Agency requirements Commitment to the highest professional standards for the self and staff in accordance with the Self Help Center Code of Ethics and Agency policies. Completion of agency's 40-hour advocacy training. Regular attendance at staff and advocate meetings. Attendance of Board of Directors meetings and/or Wyoming Coalition against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault meetings, at the request of the Executive Director and/or Supervisor. Attend community outreach events. Have on-call availability. Physical Demands and Work Environment The work is performed in an office setting which requires the ability to carry packages weighing at least 25 pounds. The employee may come in contact with emotional, irrational or violent people while performing the duties. The employee assumes all risks, loss, damages, or injury, including death, while employed at the Self Help Center Education and Experience High school diploma or G.E.D. required, Associate Degree preferred.
  • Experience in a related field or with a similar agency is preferred.
