Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Crisis Specialist to join our dedicated mental health and behavioral support team. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and crisis evaluations utilizing DSM-5 criteria and clinical documentation standards to determine risk levels and appropriate interventions. Implement de-escalation techniques and behavioral management strategies to stabilize individuals during acute crises while ensuring safety for patients and staff. Provide immediate crisis intervention, including triage, risk assessment, and short-term stabilization for patients with co-occurring disorders such as substance use and developmental disabilities. Deliver evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, grief counseling, group therapy, and applied behavior analysis tailored to individual needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized case management plans that incorporate home & community care strategies, hospital protocols, and social work best practices. Maintain accurate medical records and electronic health records (EHR) management in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times. Support high-risk populations through specialized patient care approaches, including trauma-informed care for PTSD patients or those with complex psychiatric conditions. Experience Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in crisis intervention settings within hospitals, community clinics, or emergency response environments. Strong background in clinical counseling modalities such as behavioral therapy, social work practices, mental health assessments, and addiction counseling. Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, and documentation standards for medical records. Hands-on experience managing electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to confidentiality protocols under HIPAA guidelines. Demonstrated ability to perform mental health assessments and crisis management in high-pressure situations involving individuals with developmental disabilities or co-occurring disorders. Knowledge of de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention risk assessment tools, and behavioral health strategies tailored for high-risk populations. Experience working in acute care environments or home & community settings supporting individuals with mental health conditions or substance use disorders is highly valued.
