This is an active, floor-based management position. The Floor Manager works directly alongside staff to observe client interactions, coach employees on behavior management techniques, reinforce appropriate interventions, and provide real-time guidance during challenging behavioral situations. The ideal candidate is comfortable developing staff while maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for clients.

Starting at $23.00 per hour
Status:
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Schedule:
Monday through Friday; 7:30 to 4 PM; overtime may be required
What You'll Do:
Provide daily supervision, coaching, training, and feedback to direct care staff. Maintain an active management presence throughout the program and provide hands-on guidance to employees. Observe staff-client interactions and provide real-time coaching on behavior management, de-escalation, redirection, and appropriate client support techniques. Guide employees in implementing client-specific behavioral supports, risk protocols, ISPs, and established intervention strategies. Help staff recognize behavioral triggers, respond appropriately to escalating behaviors, and maintain professional and supportive interactions. Reinforce the use of proactive and positive behavior-support strategies while ensuring client dignity, rights, and safety. Work collaboratively with behavior consultants/BCBAs and other members of the treatment team to ensure staff understand and consistently implement established behavioral strategies. Identify employees who need additional behavior-management coaching or competency development and coordinate observation, retraining, and follow-up. Provide immediate leadership and direction during behavioral incidents while ensuring established crisis-intervention and emergency procedures are followed. Review behavioral incidents with staff to identify opportunities for coaching, retraining, and improved client support. Monitor employee performance, attendance, conduct, completion of duties, and compliance with company policies. Coordinate appropriate staffing coverage, staff-to-client assignments, supervision ratios, and changes in client care. Conduct staff and client-group spot checks and address performance, safety, or compliance concerns. Support employee evaluations, corrective coaching, retraining, and progressive disciplinary processes when appropriate. Ensure clients receive appropriate supervision based on their individual needs, abilities, risks, behaviors, and required levels of care. Monitor staff implementation of ISPs, behavioral supports, health plans, seizure protocols, dietary requirements, and other individualized plans. Oversee meaningful client activities, community outings, volunteer opportunities, and other person-centered programming. Train and support new employees before they independently work with assigned client groups. Monitor the accuracy and timely completion of client documentation, including behavioral and incident-related documentation. Respond to behavioral, medical, safety, and operational incidents and ensure required documentation, notifications, and follow-up are completed. Communicate professionally with families, care providers, Regional Centers, service coordinators, behavior consultants, nursing staff, and other stakeholders. Ensure daily program operations meet company policies, HCBS requirements, client-care standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For:
Strong leadership, coaching, and employee-management skills. Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, including individuals with behavioral support needs. Ability to coach employees through challenging client situations while remaining calm and professional. Understanding positive behavior support, redirection, de-escalation, and client-specific behavior strategies. Ability to recognize when staff needs additional training, coaching, or professional behavioral consultation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization, time-management, and problem-solving abilities. Sound judgment during behavioral, medical, or operational emergencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, client dignity, and objective documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, clients, stakeholders, management, BCBAs/behavior consultants, and service coordinators.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or another Human Services field and/or 3 years of management experience working in a day program serving adults with developmental disabilities. Valid California Driver License and acceptable driving record. Vehicle insurance and access to an approved vehicle when driving is an assigned job function. Ability to complete required fingerprint/background clearance, drug test, physical, and TB test.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and lift throughout the workday. Assist clients with mobility and personal care. Lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. Safely operate agency vehicles when assigned. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment This position works in day programs, transportation settings, and community environments serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
