Our Director of Youth Ministries will be someone who loves Jesus and loves youth. Our Vision is to offer a dynamic, Christ-centered ministry that calls young people and families into a living vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and guides them into becoming mature disciples.
Mission:
The Director of Youth Ministries will have general oversight of youth and education ministries so that young people might mature and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Elements of carrying out this mission include the following: recruiting and educating leaders, education, working with the Pastor on confirmation education, retreats, Bible Studies, discipleship, mission trips, service events, camp, fellowship and other outreach. Personal Life Have a visible and living relationship with Jesus Christ. Practice self-feeding on the Word, prayer, and other spiritual disciplines. Be fun, flexible, highly relational, and emotionally resilient. Practice a high level of integrity and trust. Passion for reaching young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Relationships & Responsibilities Have good communication skills with youth and adults. Prepare for and hold weekly gatherings with 9-12 graders that include fun, biblical teaching and small groups so students grow in their faith. Recruit, lead, equip and oversee a Senior High Youth Team. Lead other events, retreats, service projects, mission trips, camps & retreats for both High School and Middle School, involving youth in services, etc. to help mature young people in their faith. While about 40% of time would be devoted to grades 9-12 and about 40% of time the Director of Youth Ministries leads Confirmation (Grades 6-8) along with Pastor Wes and the Confirmation Coordinator.
This includes:
Weekly Confirmation meetings during the school year Plan the Confirmation Retreat & Summer Stretch for Middle Schoolers and help direct families to Christian Summer Camp opportunities. Partner with the Director of Adult and Family Ministries for High School Graduation, a Faith Stepping-Stone class. Help with other churchwide functions such as VBS, Additional Faith Stepping Stones (7 a year), etc...as requested. Utilize technology, social media, etc... to do ministry. Be at Sunday services and involved where appropriate Remain current on youth ministry topics and resources and related issues. Promote growth, spiritual maturity, and youth participation at FaithPoint. Work in a low control, highly accountable relationship to the Senior Pastor. Be highly self-motivated and able to hold flexible hours. Qualifications A bachelor's degree. A degree in Youth Ministry, Christian Education or Pastoral Ministry is preferred, but not required. A demonstrated level of maturity, leadership, organizational skills, and a desire to be a team player who works well with other staff and leaders. Demonstrate the ability to initiate and complete goals and ministry projects. Capable and creative computer, technology and social media skills. Able to be a resource and role model for FaithPoint s youth and/or parents Commit to the Vision and Mission of FaithPoint Lutheran Church. Music/worship ability is not required but a plus! This is a full-time position and reports to the Senior Pastor. Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience. There can be some flexibility in hours.
