Hope City Church | Harrisonville, Missouri Full-Time, Salaried | On-Site Reports to:
Executive Pastor Ministry Area:
Kindergarten through 5th Grade
ABOUT HOPE CITY
Hope City is a fast-growing, non-denominational church in Harrisonville, Missouri, on the southeast side of Kansas City. Our mission is to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to our community, nation, and world. We believe the next generation matters deeply to God. HC Kids exists to help children grow in love with God, His Word, and His house through biblical teaching, worship, relationships, and a lot of fun.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for someone who can pastor children, build leaders, and bring clear leadership to a growing ministry. This is a team-building role, not a one-person show. The right leader will create strong Sunday environments, equip parents, and develop a Dream Team that carries the ministry with real ownership. The Children's Pastor will provide spiritual and strategic leadership for HC Kids, serving children from kindergarten through fifth grade. This person will build a ministry that is biblical, fun, safe, relational, and ready to grow.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Spiritual Leadership and Discipleship Set and carry a clear, faith-filled vision for the spiritual growth and discipleship of children. Serve as a primary preacher, teacher, and communicator of God's Word to children. Lead weekly children's services and create engaging, age-appropriate opportunities for biblical learning, worship, prayer, and response. Evaluate curriculum, ministry environments, and weekly experiences to keep them biblically grounded, effective, and aligned with Hope City's vision. Provide pastoral care and spiritual leadership for children and families when needs arise. Dream Team and Leadership Development Recruit, train, schedule, shepherd, and retain adult and teen Dream Team members. Build a strong adult volunteer base while continuing to give teens meaningful, well-supported opportunities to serve. Use a clear leadership pipeline to identify, develop, and release coaches, team leaders, and future ministry leaders. Equip Dream Team members to use their gifts, care for people, and take meaningful ownership of the ministry. Build a healthy team culture marked by prayer, honor, preparation, encouragement, accountability, and joy. Parents and Families Equip and encourage parents as the primary spiritual leaders of their children. Connect what happens at church with what happens at home through clear communication and practical resources. Build trust with families by helping children feel known, loved, welcomed, and safe. Worship and Special Events Develop and lead a children's worship and Hype Team that helps children engage in wholehearted worship. Plan and lead experiences such as Summer Blast, camps, back-to-school events, and other children's ministry events. Make sure every event is spiritually meaningful, engaging, well-organized, and safe. Operations and Collaboration Steward the Children's Ministry budget responsibly and plan ahead for ministry needs. Maintain effective systems for scheduling, communication, check-in, safety, supplies, and follow-up. Partner with the Nursery/Preschool Director and Youth Pastor to create strong transitions between age groups. Work collaboratively with staff and support church-wide services, events, prayer gatherings, trainings, and initiatives. Carry and protect the mission, vision, values, theology, and culture of Hope City Church.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Children are learning Scripture, responding to Jesus, engaging in worship, and excited to come back. Parents trust the ministry and have practical support for discipling their children at home. The Dream Team is healthy, prepared, well cared for, and growing. Leaders are being developed at every level, and ministry ownership is not bottlenecked with one person. Sunday services and special events are safe, organized, spiritually meaningful, and ready for growth.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR A

A relational, energetic, creative, and dependable leader who follows through. A collaborative staff member who can receive direction, communicate clearly, and work without ego. Someone who is aligned with Hope City's statement of faith, mission, values, and ministry culture.
